Climate Envoy Announces $4 Million for Kenya Support

He made the announcement at the 2023 Africa Climate Summit.

Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry announced a $4 million investment to support migrants impacted by climate change at the 2023 Africa Climate Summit in Kenya. Kenya is one of the countries officials consider to be vulnerable to the effects of climate change, and the region is currently experiencing a catastrophic drought.

The funding will be distributed through the International Organization for Migration to help the 2.3 million people displaced by this drought to thrive where they are and begin to address the issues facing their homeland.

The State Department said, “This program will strengthen the resilience of migrants, refugees, and their Kenyan hosts facing climate hazards in Garissa and Turkana counties through adaptation support for agricultural livelihoods, improved data systems, and tools to address the basic humanitarian needs and increase the resilience of climate-displaced populations.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for the president and members of his administration as they seek to address climate change.
  • For U.S. officials to be discerning as they designate funding for other countries while citizens of this nation are in need of assistance.
